The Completion of Human Existence and Its Fragrant Testimony through Soyo's Existence Ethics
Soyo's Existence Ethics (Existence itself is ethics)

The Fragrance of a Character Tempered by Suffering
When is a human most fragrant? It is not the bloom of youthful beauty like a flower, nor the worldly success one attains, nor the brilliance of material abundance. Existential ethics teaches that a human is most fragrant when, having passed through suffering, they remain unbroken in character. That fragrance is invisible to the "eye" but lingers in the heart. It emerges not from possession, but from being. It arises from the time endured, the standards upheld, the quiet silence maintained, and the love steadfastly carried.
A Society Obsessed with the Exterior, Humans Losing Their Inner Selves
Today, we live in an era where “living well” has become the measure of all values. Education divides human hierarchy, wealth becomes a standard of respect, and appearance conditions love. This conditional society reduces human existence to “quantifiable value,” erasing the uniqueness and eternity of being. This system surpasses mere capitalism, advancing into a structure that despises suffering, mocks fairness, and destroys the value of community. As a result, humans shift from beings capable of shared empathy to beings who trample each other in competition.
Society says, “Happiness comes from success, and success comes from external conditions.” But humans are not machines. They are beings who perceive truth through suffering. External conditions cannot measure character. The true weight of life is revealed in the time endured in silence.
Restoring a Broken Character and Self
A society judged by conditions and possessions ultimately destroys the inner human and disassembles character. Philosophy has fallen into a tool for individualistic success, and scholarship has become a means of status, not a journey toward truth. In this structure, suffering is treated as a useless obstacle. Existential ethics, however, teaches that suffering is the testing ground of character, and a character completed without suffering cannot bear fragrance. The boy walking in torn shoes, the mother swallowing tears for her children in poverty, the nameless people who preserved what the world ignored. They had no external success, yet their existence illuminated the world with fragrance. The restoration of character begins in self-reflection, which starts by facing the time of suffering.
The Ethics of Suffering and Fragrance
True fragrance blooms in despair. It is a testimony of existence, imbued in the time that passed through pain. Suffering is not to crush humans but to prove the divine breath within them. A fragrant character is a spiritual privilege granted only to those who have passed this test.
Existence ethics does not view suffering as an enemy of life. Instead, suffering helps us feel the weight of existence, and when shared with others, humans become most human. Love comes not from "the successful” but from those who can share pain. God does not bless mechanical success but values the fragrance of mercy and forgiveness sprinkled upon human wounds.
The Fragrance of Character as Testimony of Existence
Life’s successes remain as applause, but the fragrance of character lingers in the hearts of others. Those remembered through time are not the materially wealthy, but those who did not lose love amid suffering. We remember the night bread was shared through tears, the one who called out our name, and the arms that held us with quiet smiles in a wounded world. What they left behind was not papers or possessions; it was fragrance. The fragrance of character.
Soyo’s Testimony, an Existence that Leaves Fragrance
Today, I testify through this writing, not toward wealth, nor fame, but toward a single being; a single soul. I, Soyo, write to convey the fragrance of character tempered by suffering, to record quietly, not with philosophy, but with love. Not with knowledge, but with testimony, how mysterious and glorious human existence truly is, in opposition to transactional language and conditional love. Suffering is not merely endured; it becomes a fragrance that wraps around the shoulders of others. This writing is a trace of existence meant to leave that fragrance, a living confession of existential ethics.
Existence Becomes Fragrance
Life is not an answer but a journey of testimony. Those who remain unbroken through that journey leave behind a fragrance in this world. We remember such fragrance, slower than light, yet longer-lasting. And you, too, can become that fragrance, because you did not let go of love even as you passed through suffering. No cruel condition of life can dismantle a human. A character who accepts even harsh conditions as a natural part of life is imbued with fragrance.
“Become a being that leaves fragrance. It is the most noble testimony of one who has passed through suffering.”
